Toasted oatmeal

Yes please!

This is heavenly. Honestly, if you try this, I think this will be the only way you eat your oats.

Ingredients

  • 1 full tbsp of butter

  • 1 cup oats (any style)

  • 1 cup of milk (or water or combination)

  • 1 tbsp sugar

  • 1/2 tsp salt (omit if butter is salted)

Instructions

  1. melt the butter in a pot over medium heat

  2. add dry oats and toast in butter until they are golden and fragrant

  3. slowly add milk, stir continuously

  4. add salt and sugar

  5. cook, stirring frequently, until liquid is absorbed

  6. enjoy!

Notes

The oats will be dense and chewier than typical porridge — that’s part of their appeal!

This is the foundation for your toasted oats. Toppings are as wide as your imagination but may include:

  • brown sugar

  • maple syrup

  • honey

  • butter

  • any fruit/berry

  • any nut or seed

    • chia and hemp are stars here
